David Swail is President and C.E.O. of McGraw-Hill Ryerson, the publicly-traded Canadian subsidiary of McGraw-Hill Companies. He is a director of the Canadian company and serves on the Executive and Finance Committees of the Board. David has worked in the publishing industry in Canada for the past 25 years. Over the course of his career he has held senior roles with many of Canada’s premier publishing and media organizations, including Maclean-Hunter, Rogers, Southam, CanWest and Sun Media/Quebecor. His responsibilities have spanned magazines, newspapers, educational publishing and web services. David has served on many industry boards and associations, and Immediate Past President of the Canadian Publishers’ Council. David holds an M.A. in English from the University of Toronto, and an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.
Mary Arrand, Director of Human Resources. Mary joined McGraw-Hill Ryerson in January 2009 as the Director of Human Resources. She is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) with a background in management development, total compensation and coaching. Formerly, Mary was with PricewaterhouseCoopers and The Blackburn Media Group, including The London Free Press.
Brenda Arseneault, Acting Chief Financial Officer and Secretary-Treasurer. Her areas of responsibility include Finance, Credit and Collections, Payroll and Facilities. In her role she directs all financial aspects of the business including accounting practices, budgeting, financial planning, interface with the financial community, financial analysis, and monitoring of financial performance. Prior to joining McGraw-Hill Ryerson Limited in August 1999, Brenda spent 6 years at Ernst &Young LLP.
Patrick Ferrier, President Higher Education Division. Previously, Patrick served as the Vice-President and Publisher since he joined the Company in January 2000. He has worked with McGraw Hill companies worldwide to help develop business strategies and local publishing programs. He currently sits on the board of directors for the Institute for the Advancement of Teaching in Higher Education and is a member of the Canadian Publisher’s Council. During his twenty-five years in the education industry Patrick has held executive positions at Prentice-Hall Canada and Pearson Education Canada and has served on various industry panels and committees.
Nancy Gerrish, President School Division. Prior to joining the School Division in 1994 as Director of Sales and Marketing, she held a number of positions with increasing responsibilities at Harcourt Brace & Company, including National Marketing Manager, Director of Marketing, Director of Sales and Marketing. Since starting her publishing career in 1985 as a School sales representative, Nancy has been successful in developing, marketing and selling resources for Grades K – 12 across the full range of subject areas.
Dianne J. Herren, Vice President Professional Division. Her areas of responsibility include driving top and bottom line profitable sales results for the Professional Division’s portfolio of print and digital products. Prior to coming to McGraw Hill Ryerson, Dianne held senior sales leadership positions spanning several industries some of which included information solutions, media and most recently publishing where she most recently worked for Carswell a Thomson Reuters business.
Marshall I. Morris, Executive Vice President, Customer Satisfaction. His areas of responsibility include Customer Service, Supply Chain, Distribution and I.T. Prior to joining McGraw-Hill Ryerson in April 1996, Marshall held positions of increasing scope and responsibility in the areas of finance, accounting, operational management and logistics with his previous employer, Canadian Tire Corporation, Ltd.
