About the Author

    Ronald Conrad

Ronald Conrad is a Professor Emeritus of English at Ryerson Polytechnic University, where he has taught in many areas, including Canadian literature, Victorian literature, composition, and creative writing. He has focussed especially on the teaching of writing, and for over 20 years has published well-received textbooks in the composition field. (He is the author of another McGraw-Hill Ryerson text, The Act of Writing, an anthology of Canadian essayists, which is used across the nation.) Conrad has also lived and travelled in other countries, and speaks French and Spanish fluently. Recently retired from teaching, he now devotes more time to his lifelong interest in the outdoors — hiking, skiing, and wilderness canoeing.
