Chapter 2 Overview

Looking Ahead

  • Where did the numbers go?
  • Where did the time go?
  • Wish you could get the time back represented by those numbers?

If you didn't use the time wisely, you might wish to have it back. On the other hand, if you used those minutes (or hours) to study hard and aced a test, or worked really hard at your part-time job and made extra spending money, you might be just as happy to see those minutes gone. Time well spent defines a wise person.

But wisdom is hard earned. Very few of us spend all, or even any, of our time wisely. The good news is that we all can learn how to. Part of the intangible difficulty, however, lies in defining the term wisely. Not every moment needs to be spent doing tasks; sometimes just daydreaming or relaxing is as important as doing work. However, as students, your day is filled with many different things that need to get done, and it's often very easy to lose track. So if you tend to miss meetings, forget to write a crucial paper, or find you have no time to read the next chapter in your history text then Chapter two can help. In Chapter two you'll learn how to assess the amount of time you spend on daily activities, and will then be provided with specific activities and charts to help improve the way you spend your time. And if you're one of those people who just can't stand to fill in charts and lists, we have something for you too.
