Recall is a method of measuring memory. In free recall, the participant is shown a list of items which must then be recalled in any order. Typically, the participant shows subjective organization, in which similar items are grouped together in the recall. And, in many cases, the serial position effect is produced, in which the person recalls more items from the beginning (primacy) and end (recency) of the list.

When you begin, a list of 10 letters will be presented, one at a time, in the area below. Try to remember all of the letters presented. Next, type them into the text area in any order you can remember them. When you are done, click on 'FINISHED' and you will be shown the correct letters in the order they were displayed. A check will appear below each letter you remembered. Note the distribution of the items you remembered in the list. How do your results compare to those discussed above?
