Internet Public Library: "The Internet Public Library (IPL), is a public service organization and learning/teaching environment at the University of Michigan School of Information". Not only an online library, but an ongoing research project on providing digital information.
Country Reports: Atlapedia Online contains key information on every country of the world. Each country profile provides facts and data on geography, climate, people, religion, language, history, and economy.
Biographical Information: Based on the television series Biography, this site provides biographies of 20,000 people from the past as well as the present. Also presents opportunities to play biographical games, and to keep current with biographies available in bookstores and on the television series.
Britannica.com: Britannica.com brings you leading magazines, related books, and the complete Encyclopćdia Britannica online. This is an excellent source of news, sports, and weather, as well as a place to explore technology, the arts, business, and world politics.
Dictionary Resource: A quick and easy dictionary reference.
Essential Links: This site literally links you to every reference site you could need. In addition to sports, news, health, and government, there are many additional resources.
InfoPlease.com: Combining the contents of an encyclopedia, a dictionary, and several up-to-the minute almanacs loaded with statistics, facts, and historical records, Information Please places the resources of an entire reference information center at your fingertips.
U.S. Library of Congress: Collections and services for researchers, libraries, and the public.
Literary Resources on the Net: This set of pages is a collection of links to sites on the Internet dealing especially with English and American literature, excluding most single electronic texts, and is limited to collections of information useful to academics.
Martindale's, The Reference Desk: The Reference Desk is a quick, easy-to-use, reference site that provides access to data in many different subject areas, such as language dictionaries, calculators, science databases, journals and reprints, and an elaborate Health Science Centers.
My Virtual Reference Desk: Fast, easy, comprehensive content. A one-stop site for all type of reference material from daily newspapers to dictionaries, thesauri, population reports, maps, weather, etc.
Quotations: Home page for Bartlett's quotations.
The World Factbook: Annually updated reference work prepared by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
Research Papers: Plenty of tips on how to find a topic, do research online, and write a research paper.
Urban legends: Heard a rumour and want to know if it's true? This site is devoted to debunking hoaxes and rumours.
WhatIs: IT reference: An excellent reference on computers, the Internet and related subjects.
Slashdot: Billing itself as "news for nerds, stuff that matters", this site offers news and commentary on computer software and hardware. A strong emphasis on linux provides alternate views of the Windows world.

NRC: Canadian Journals: A comprehensive list of Canadian scientific journals, compiled by the National Research Council
Nature Science Journals: Nature, from Great Britain, is reknown for excellent quality, peer-reviewed articles.
Electronics Journal Directory: Publishers: An extensive list of electronic journals listed by publisher.
Canada's Digital Collections: This Industry Canada program, funded by the federal Youth Employment Strategy, employs young Canadians to create websites (currently more than 400) that showcase our history, geography, science, technology and culture.
