When to Use This Math Review?
This Review should be used as early as possible in the course, to get maximum benefit from it, even though a few of the modules relate to material you will not take up right at the start of the course. First, it will take some time to do a sample of the exercises. They cannot all be done the night before your first big test! Second, if there are areas where you need more work, the sooner you know what they are, the more time you have to eliminate any gaps in your knowledge in a focussed way, by getting help from your Instructor, teaching assistants, tutors, or course colleagues in a study group, or just by getting in some more practice.

At some point, your Instructor may suggest looking closely at certain sections. When (s)he does, that is a good time to review those particular sections!

If you are confident in your mathematical ability and preparation, then after a quick Diagnostic Check at the start of the course, you might not use the Review again at all. If, however, like 2/3 of your fellow course members, you are still feeling a bit shaky about some of the mathematical topics, then you can use the Review as a brief refresher for those topics, as part of your test and exam preparation. The Review, however, will be at most a complement to your other study and preparation, not a substitute for it.
