Description : The US Taylor textbook is widely accepted as the best health psychology book in the market. Our Canadian adaptation will stay true to its content by conveying the increasing sophistication and complexity of the field in a manner that is accessible and exciting to undergraduates. The flexible organization and emphasis on many relevant areas of psychology make Health Psychology, Canadian Edition appropriate for courses in Health Psychology, Health and Human Behaviour, and allied health and pre-med/pharmacy programs. The text takes a social psychological perspective that provides clear explanations of biological, psychological, and social factors in health issues reinforced with boxed information that illustrates important points. A variety of theoretical perspectives are incorporated as they relate to particular health problems. Research is current and reflects the problems of our times.
New Features :
International and Canadian coverage: inclusion of global research and content where appropriate, i.e., coverage of HIV is Canadian but also comparative.
Support package: iStudy includes standard content, but more importantly, a video component featuring documentary-style interviews illustrating "clinical relevancy," plus patients to provide the dramatic perspective of health psychology.
Retained Features :
Personal, dynamic writing style: appeals to students of all ages and backgrounds. Complex issues and topics in human development are clearly explained and illustrated throughout the text.
Boxes: revised to reflect Canadian context and renamed to differentiate the different types, including research and application.
