Lionel brings 18 years of science teaching, curriculum and resource development to the team. He has been the British Columbia science coordinator during the last science IRP revision, the Anglophone lead for the Pan Canadian Science Project and is now the Canadian Director for the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Lionel is also the lead author for the K – 12 science program of a major educational publisher. Lionel’s belief that science is an active learning process brings a fresh, innovative approach to all resource materials he helps to develop.

Jim has a B.Sc. in geophysics from UBC, and has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. He has been teaching Geology 12 and Earth Science 11 for the past 16 years. In addition, he has coauthored a resource package, and provides workshops for earth science and geology teachers sponsored by the Mining Association of British Columbia. For the past decade, Jim has been involved in numerous writing projects for the Ministry of Education including IRPs, Pan Canadian Science Project learning outcomes, various curriculum development projects, and examination writing, editing and marking. Jim's experiences provide the team with a strong foundation in the areas of instructional and assessment strategies. Jim has also worked on science textbooks for British Columbia and Alberta.

Don combines his 15 years of teaching junior science and senior chemistry with his experiences from working in the mining industry and medical profession to provide a solid science content foundation for our team. He has worked on provincial science curriculum revisions and marked chemistry exams. His work writing chemistry units for a major educational publisher provides ample evidence of why his students are successful in their academic studies at high school and later in their academic and professional careers.

 

Joe is one of Canada's leaders in the area of integrating technology into the science classroom. Nationally recognized for his ability to find common sense technological solutions that work in the classroom, his skills are a natural fit for our team. Besides being awarded The Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence, Alberta's Outstanding Science Teacher and the Roy C Hill National Award, Joe is an author and Web master for a major educational publisher. He has also been recognized both internationally and nationally for his non-profit Web site www.ScienceMan.com, dedicated to helping science and technology teachers by providing valuable curricular support and ideas for integrating technology.
