Launch of CONNECTschool™

With the recent launch of CONNECTschool™, McGraw-Hill Ryerson is the first School publisher in Canada to offer a teaching and learning platform developed and supported in Canada for Canadian schools, their teachers & students. CONNECTschool™ is a web-based program that includes a searchable eBOOK, interactive teaching and learning resources, and customizable planning and study tools.

McGraw-Hill conducted in-depth research to create a new learning experience to meet the expectations of today’s students and teachers. The result is a learning experience rich in information, visually engaging, and easily accessible to both teachers and students. Access to CONNECTschool™ complements the textbook and is conveniently available anytime, anywhere. It can also be personalized by individual teachers to create their own teaching plans and personalized by individual students to create their own learning and study plan.

With CONNECTschool™, students can engage with their coursework anytime and anywhere, making the learning process more accessible and efficient. Students will now be able to interact with the textbook content by adding post-it notes and bookmarks, highlighting text, copy /pasting both text and images into the study notes section. Students can then organize – and reorganize – their notes into a study plan in a way that makes sense to them. With rich multi-media assets to assist with difficult concepts this student-friendly tool will appeal to those with different learning styles.

The Teacher’s Edition of CONNECTschool™ allows teachers to access a variety of program specific resources and plan lessons from any browser, anywhere, at anytime. The Teacher’s Edition of CONNECTschool™ gives teachers the flexibility to personalize lessons plans and save notes and highlights for future reference and semesters. Teachers can also interact with the textbook content in the same manner as students, and choose to share their notes with students in their CONNECT class. Additional features permit teachers to post assignments and class notices and use a calendar to share due dates and key events. Teachers will also save time by selecting from already created PowerPoints® and SmartBoard Lessons and assessment pieces.

eTEACH™ — Canadian History Online

Looking for new ways to generate excitement about Canadian history amongst your students? eTEACH™ was specifically created to provide easy online access to a range of media to engage students.

eTEACH™ is an online “filing cabinet” that contains video, audio, photos, and other primary source material that support the Creating Canada print resource as well as support the teaching of Historical Thinking Concepts. Students can listen to a radio broadcast from the beaches at Dieppe, read a letter from a nurse stationed in France during World War I, and watch a news story explaining how people should “watch television safely,” from the early years of television. These primary and secondary sources provide students with new ways to connect to important events and issues in the past and support what is being learned in the classroom.

Through eTEACH™, teachers also have electronic access to PDF versions of both the student and teacher’s edition of Creating Canada, as well as an Interactive Lesson Centre with SmartBoard (whiteboard) and PowerPoint lessons and flash-based activities. Teachers will also benefit from the time-saving ready-made lesson plans.

Take a complimentary “Test Drive” of eTEACH™ to experience this time-saving tool for yourself!
