Content Essentials for Science provides supplemental print and technology materials for students who need background and concept understanding for key academic content and expository reading and writing strategies. This program targets all students in building the academic language and vocabulary needed to comprehend science content and it is especially effective with English Language Learners and at-risk students.

 

Content Essentials for Science meets students' needs by presenting the information in a highly visual format to scaffold content without watering it down. It provides vocabulary support for the academic terms needed to make sense of science content. In each level, the lessons are structured so that part one focuses on topics essential for understanding elementary science and part two focuses on the reading and writing skills needed to make content comprehensible. Both parts focus on vocabulary, which is key to comprehension.
